Survival...
The month of May was mostly just my baby and me.
Steve was back at work full time and I was not working at the hospital.... I have never stayed home this much and have never not worked for this long. But the hours ran together, the days ran together and were marked only by the doctor’s appointments that we went to. Teryl was quite yellow and had elevated bilirubin, so we had 4 trips to urgent care for blood draws to make sure her liver was doing what it needed to do. So hard to watch them try to draw blood from tiny little hands.
We kept working at breast feeding, which was so hard and so painful, but we persevered. Lots of night feedings... lots of tired mornings, and eventually afternoons out by the pool.
Steve trained for his first triathlon and completed on Mother’s Day. Teryl and I went to support him - our first extended outing. It was on Kirkland Air-force Base so each participant only was allowed one spectator. He did great and was excited to train for his next race.
We also made one trip up to Santa Fe for an afternoon, it was quite windy so it was not a long trip, but you did great in the car.
Some other special visitors...
And working to hold that head up is hard work....

Smelling the roses...
